Cottage Loving on Valentines Day
Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and love is in the air. And while summer has not yet arrived, there are plenty of reasons to love your cottage at this time of year. Get outside and breathe that beautiful fresh air. Cross-country ski trails are open and in beautiful condition; lace up the skates and head to the fabulous and fun ice road at Arrowhead Park; go for a downhill ski at Hidden Valley and say hello to Dara Howell; mush through towering winter pines with a team of huskies as your sled dogs. The waterfront in front of your cottage can now be used as a personal pond hockey rink; Rent a snowmobile and head out for a day of fun on the miles of beautiful groomed trails in the Lake of Bays region. Stop by one of the local eateries right on the trail for a warm bowl of homemade chili or why not try your hand at ice fishing and bring a lake trout home for dinner? Take a thermos of hot chocolate to keep you warm and full of energy.
…After an invigorating day outdoors, let’s have some good old fashioned fun with a game of Scrabble or a game of cribbage – the same board game your parents loved so much. Or – what about a heart shaped puzzle?
Getting Hungry..Me too 🙂
Turn the barbeque on, lightly season those beautiful steaks you bought at the Dwight Village Market earlier today and get ready to add the tiger shrimp to the grill. A few asparagus spears roasting in the corner of the grill and its time to uncork that fabulous bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape. Desert is those mouthwatering, light and lovely, Muskoka Clouds from Henrietta’s Pine Bakery along with strawberries dipped in chocolate.
After dinner take a leisurely romantic moonlight stroll on the frozen lake. Aren’t the stars amazing?
Back to the cottage; some soft music playing, Stoke the fire, and listen to the sounds of the logs cracking in the fireplace. Curl up in front of the fire, pour a glass of champagne and fall in love with the cottage all over again 🙂 Happy Valentines!
